WordPress website and hosting migration

中文

Scope a WordPress move around files, data, domain and email dependencies, with agreed testing, final synchronization, cutover and rollback checks.

Discuss your project

Moving a WordPress website involves more than copying a folder. The database, editing workflow, forms, email and existing links also need to work in the destination environment. A migration plan should identify those dependencies before a release date is agreed.

When to consider a migration

This work can cover a hosting move, a domain change or the release of a staging site. We first assess available backups, site size, hosting compatibility and existing faults so migration and repair work have separate boundaries.

Agree on the migration steps

  • Inventory files, database content, licenses and external services.
  • Retain a source backup and check a restoration in the destination.
  • Plan domain records, HTTPS and URL mappings where changes require them.
  • Define final synchronization, cutover responsibilities and rollback conditions.

Confirm what is outside the scope

Historical mailbox contents, third-party order systems and license transfers are not automatically included. Damaged-file repairs, redesign and new functionality need separate assessment. Domain-record changes must account for services such as the existing email setup.

Prepare access and business information

Share the current URL, source and destination management arrangements, domain contact, backups and critical functions. Identify who can authorize access; use an agreed private channel for credentials.

Test before retiring the old environment

Check HTTPS, key pages, media, downloads and admin editing. Verify both saved inquiries and inbox delivery. Sites accepting orders or registrations need an agreed write pause and final data sync. DNS caching can temporarily send visitors to different environments, so retirement follows business checks. Zero interruption is not promised.

Plan your next step

For wider changes, see website redesign; for ongoing checks, explore maintenance. Bring the project brief checklist to a migration discussion through this page’s inquiry link.
